Type Locality and Naming
Jiuquan Basin, Beishan. Sun Jianchu erected the Huihuipu series in 1936. The type locality is at Huihuipu of the Yumen City of Gansu. Implied by other Lexicon entries of Jiuquan Basin to encompass the upward succession of Chinjinbao Fm, Xiagou Fm and Zhonggou Fm.

Lithology and Thickness
The lower part of the Xinminpu Group is represented by variegated sandstone with claystone and marl while the upper part red with variegated conglomeratic rocks. See component formations.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Shown as unconformable on Xiangtang Fm by Dangpeng Xi, Xiaoqiao Wan, et al. (2019; Integrated Stratigraphy and TimeScale of China).
Upper contact
The top marked by flesh-colored and yellow brown conglomerate and sandstone with gray green clayey siltstone lies unconformably under the overlying Quaternary Pleistocene Jiuquan Fm. It may also be disconformably overlain by the Paleogene Huoshaogou Fm (Hexi Corridor)
Regional extent
It is distributed widely in the Hongliuxia, Chijinpu, Xinminpu and Qilianshan piedmont basins and in the Beishan area of Gansu, and is also exposed sporadically in Inner Mongolia and Qinghai.
